IDU Spotlight: Alliance of European Conservatives and Reformists
Distinguished centre-right IDU members and others met from 16 to 18 September in Prague, Czech Republic to analyse the migration crisis and its effects on Europe, the consequences of the UK referendum, and current challenges to the transatlantic partnership.
This unique high-level international conference was organised by our partners, the Euro-realist Alliance of European Conservatives and Reformists (AECR), which is the fastest growing political movement in Europe and the third largest pan-European political party.
Conference speakers included the former Prime Minister of Australia Tony Abbott MP, one of the world’s foremost economists Hernando de Soto, AECR President Jan Zahradil MEP (ODS), ODS Chairman Petr Fiala MP, AECR Secretary-General Daniel Hannan MEP (UK Conservative Party), and the President Emeritus at Migration Policy Institute, Demetrios G. Papademetriou.
At this conference, the Alliance adopted a statement on the continuation of genuine EU reform and international conservative cooperation. Furthermore, AECR emphasized the crucial importance of social action for conservative values.
The AECR brings together parties committed to individual liberty, national sovereignty, parliamentary democracy, the rule of law, private property, low taxes, sound money, free trade, open competition, and the devolution of power.
