At the IDU Executive Meeting held on December 7th in Washington D.C., it was unanimously decided that 3 new members would join the Executive Board. We welcome Minister Gila Gamliel, and the Chairpersons of the Democrat Union of Africa Louisa Atta-Agyemang and Freeman Mbowe.
Gila Gamliel MK is a member of the Likud Party and the Israeli Knesset, currently serving as Minister of Intelligence. First elected to the Knesset in 2003, she has previously served as Minister of Environmental Protection (2020-2021) and Minister of Social Equality (2015-2020).
Louisa Atta-Agyemang serves as Co-Chairperson of the Democrat Union of Africa (DUA), the first female and the youngest person to hold this position in the organization’s history. A member of the New Patriotic Party of Ghana, she has previously served two terms as President of the Young Democrat Union of Africa.
Rt Hon. Freeman Aikaeli Mbowe also serves as Co-Chairperson of DUA, as well as Chairman of CHADEMA, IDU’s Tanzanian member-party, since 2005. He has dedicated decades of his life to the fight for freedom and democracy in Tanzania.
