On April 4th 2024, the Asia-Pacific Democracy Union (APDU) unanimously elected the Hon. Judith Collins KC MP as Chairwoman at an Executive Meeting held as part of the IDU Forum, Asia-Pacific in Wellington, New Zealand.
Serving as New Zealand’s Attorney-General and Minister of Defence, alongside five other government portofolios, Minister Collins brings decades of experience in frontline politics, including as Leader of the New Zealand National Party. During the Meeting, Chairwoman Collins put forward a bold vision for the APDU.
Under her leadership, the APDU will aim to enhance its collaboration with its membership and expand its outreach strategy to build strong ties with potential new members among the Asia-Pacific centre-right.
On this ocassion, the APDU would also like to extend its gratitute to the former APDU Chairman, His Excellency, the President of Sri Lanka, Ranil Wickremesinghe, for his years of leadership.
