Resolution tabled by Likud, Israel at the IDU Executive Meeting, December 6th, 2024, in Washington D.C.
Resolution on Israel
Whereas, the International Democracy Union (IDU), condemns the murderous attack on October 7, 2023, where the State of Israel was the victim of a brutal terrorist attack when thousands of Hamas terrorists invaded the State of Israel and carried out a massacre against the civilian population, which included rape, torture, murder of over 1,200 men, women, children, and elderly people and the abduction of hundreds of civilians.
Whereas, the next day, the Hezbollah terrorist organization opened an additional front and began firing hundreds of rockets and sending terrorist units to attack the northern towns and villages of Israel.
Whereas the IDU holds accountable the fanatic Ayatollah regime of Iran that has made the destruction of the State of Israel its goal, has attacked its civilian population with thousands of missiles and is targeting Israeli civilians and Jews around the world, and is the main obstacle to Middle Eastern security.
Whereas the IDU acknowledges that throughout its years, the State of Israel has demonstrated its commitment to live in peace with its neighbors, as reflected in the Abraham Accords.
Whereas the IDU affirms Israel’s right to exist as a Jewish state and its obligation to defend itself and its citizens.
THEREFORE, the IDU adopts the following measures:
- Stands by the side of the State of Israel in its war of self-defence against Iran and its proxies, against radical Islam and totalitarianism in the Middle East.
- Supports Israel as a sovereign state entitled and committed to defending its citizens while adhering strictly to international law and taking precautionary measures to prevent the loss of innocent lives as much as possible.
- Calls for the immediate and unconditional release of all hostages including men, women, the elderly, a child, and a baby held by terrorist organizations in Gaza.
- Condemns the cynical exploitation of humanitarian efforts by terrorist organizations and demands that the international community stop funding international organizations whose members and employees participated in the October 7th massacre, and whose resources and protection were utilized to enable Hamas to build terrorist infrastructure threatening Israeli citizens.
- Strongly condemns the ICC’s decision, to issue arrest warrants against the Prime Minister of Israel and the Minister of Defense, making an unacceptable equivalence between democratically elected leaders and heads of terrorist organizations, and vehemently opposes any attempt to restrict or bind the hands of democratic states in defending themselves against terrorism.
- Condemns the rise in anti-Semitic incidents worldwide since the October 7th massacre and adopts the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance working definition of antisemitism (IHRA) in the fight against global anti-Semitism.
